Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14 June 2026
This policy explains what personal data Neutrade Ltd (a company registered in England and Wales, company number 11242313) ("Curator", "we", "us") collects when you use the Curator app and website, why we collect it, and your rights over it. For the purposes of UK data-protection law, we are the data controller.
The short version. Curator is built to be private by default. Your media library stays on your own device — we never receive it. The website has no tracking, advertising or analytics cookies. The only personal data we actually keep is your email address and a hashed device identifier, both needed to run licences and trials. Your payment details are handled by our payment provider, not by us.
1. The data we collect
When you start a trial or buy a licence
- Your email address — to issue and identify your trial or licence and to provide support.
- A hashed device identifier — a one-way hashed fingerprint of your computer. We never receive the raw hardware identifiers it is derived from; we use it only to enforce the device limit and to prevent trial abuse. We also record whether that identifier is hardware-rooted (a yes/no signal) for the same purpose.
- Licence records — your plan, issue and expiry dates, and activation history.
When you activate, the app also sends your computer's name (so an activation is recognisable), but we do not store it. We do not collect your real name; any name on your receipt is held by our payment provider, not by us.
When you pay
- Payments are processed by Paddle, our reseller and merchant of record. Paddle collects your payment details directly — we never see or store your full card details. Paddle shares limited order information with us (such as your email, country for tax purposes, and an order reference).
When the app matches your files
- To look up titles, episodes, artwork and ratings, the app sends only the parsed name details of a file (such as a guessed title, season and episode number) and the media type, through our matching service to the data providers. It does not send your file paths, your filenames in full, your library, or your email.
The website and updates
- Our website uses no tracking, advertising or analytics cookies. Our hosting provider may process standard, short-lived server logs (such as IP addresses) to deliver and secure the site.
- When the app checks for or downloads updates, that request goes to our update host, which will see your IP address as part of delivering the download.
2. Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To provide the Service (issuing trials and licences, activating devices, running online matching) — this is necessary to perform our contract with you.
- To prevent abuse and keep the Service secure (enforcing the device limit, detecting trial-cycling, protecting our data providers) — this is in our legitimate interests, balanced against your privacy by using a hashed identifier and the minimum data needed.
- To meet legal and tax obligations (record-keeping for sales), via Paddle as merchant of record.
3. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers who help us run Curator:
- Paddle — payment processing and tax (merchant of record).
- Cloudflare — website and service hosting and security.
- GitHub — hosting app downloads and updates.
- TheTVDB, TheMovieDB and Trakt — the data providers that answer matching requests (they receive only the parsed name details described above).
- If we add email verification for trials in future, a transactional email provider — we will update this policy first.
4. International transfers
Some of these providers are based outside the UK. Where your data is transferred outside the UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as a UK adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses) so that it remains protected.
5. How long we keep it
- Licence and activation records are kept for as long as your licence is active and for a reasonable period afterwards for support, tax and fraud-prevention.
- The trial-abuse record (the hashed device identifier against a trial) is kept for as long as necessary to prevent repeat trial abuse.
- Payment and tax records are kept by Paddle in line with their obligations.
6. Your rights
Under UK data-protection law you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data erased, where applicable;
- restrict or object to certain processing;
- receive your data in a portable format; and
- withdraw consent where we rely on it.
To exercise any of these, contact us at support@yourcurator.app. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, though we hope you will contact us first so we can help.
7. Children
Curator is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Service evolves. Where changes are significant we will give reasonable notice. The "last updated" date above shows when it last changed.
